Final Project Description

The student will analyze a healthcare dataset, performing the necessary analysis to answer the research questions. Analysis must extend beyond running descriptive statistics. Students are required to perform inferential statistics for this project.

Formal Report

Topic: Topic: Disease management Influences Healthcare Outcomes 

 Students will prepare a formal report that will, at a minimum, consist of the following:

 • Problem Statement – A brief description of the problem being addressed

 • Introduction / Background – Summary of the literature review describing why investigating the problem is needed (literature review is required, not optional) 

• Objectives / Hypothesis / Research Questions – Description of the goals of the research detailing the research questions or hypotheses (null and alternative)

• Dataset Description – Description of the publicly available dataset, why the dataset was selected and where it was obtained from on the Internet 

• Data Analysis Process – A detailed description of what data analysis was performed and why the data analysis methodology was performed 

• Results / Findings – The outcome of the data analysis

 • Conclusions – Brief summary of take-home points from this data analysis and research 

• References – List of journal articles and sources used in the project 

This assignment will be evaluated based upon the following: 

• Ability to clearly define topic and scope of paper and presentation

 • Ability to summarize and synthesize relevant information found in the literature

 • Ability to critically evaluate information found in literature 

• Quality of demonstration of healthcare governance and security concepts

 • Breadth and scope of resources used (resourcefulness)

 • Ability to write in clear, concise manner

 • Overall quality of writing of report (e.g. well organized, professional writing style, free of spelling and grammatical errors, etc.)

 • Ability to present the problem and recommendations in an easily understood manner

 • Professional presentation (speaking) skills

 • References and citations in correct APA format
