A nuclear reactor at 900 K transfers heat to water in a boiler, thereby producing steam at 60 bar, and 500°C (State 1) which enters a SSSF turbine. The steam exits an adiabatic turbine in the form of saturated vapor at 0.1 bar (State 2). The vapor enters a condenser where it is condensed into saturated liquid at 0.1 bar (State 3) and then pumped to the boiler at State 4 using an isentropic pump (Figure 4.9). Assume that unit mass of water is circulated.
Determine:
a. The cyclic work,
b. Efficiency of cycle,
c. Optimum cycle work,
d. Availability efficiency,
e. Overall irreversibility of the cycle,
f. Availabilities at states 1, 2, 3, and 4, and the irreversibilities in the boiler, turbine, and condenser.
