A pump delivers 0.55 Lsí1 of water from a sump tank, with its free surface

A pump delivers 0.55 Lsí1 of water from a sump tank, with its free surface 1 m below the entrance of the pump, to a storage tank with its free surface 2 m above the pump. The total length of piping on the suction side of the pump is 2 m and the pipe has three 90°-elbows. On the delivery side the pipe is 4 m long and there are four 90° elbows. The diameters of the suction and delivery pipes are 25 mm. The system uses schedule-40 steel pipes with threaded fittings. The atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa.

Calculate

(i) the static head, the velocity head, and the total head at the entrance of the pump,

(ii) the pressure rise at the pump, and

(iii) the ideal work input to the pump.

Hint
Accounts & FinanceA pump is a mechanical device that propels fluids (liquids or gases), or occasionally slurries, by converting electrical energy into hydraulic energy. Pumps are divided into three categories based on the technique of fluid movement: direct lift, displacement, and gravity pumps....
