Logistic regression is an appropriate regression analysis to conduct when the dependent variable is binary or dichotomous.  The logistic regression, like all regression analyses, is a predictive analysis and is used to describe data and to explain the relationship between one dependent binary variable and one or more ordinal, interval, nominal or ratio-level independent variables. Basically, this logistic regression is a statistical model that in its basic form uses a logistic function to model a binary dependent variable, even when many more complex extensions exist. In the regression analysis, logistic regression, aka logit regression is estimating the parameters of a logistic model i.e. a form of binary regression.
