(a)    Perform the following mathematical operations;

(i)                ¾  + ⅔ – ⅛

(ii)                ⅜ ÷ 1/9

(iii)             Increase €500 by 4%

(iv)             Reduce €22.50 by 5.5% (give answer correct to 2 decimal places).
 
(b)   (i) Express 125 as a percentage of 70 (give answer correct to 2 decimal places)
(ii) Using a conversion rate of 1 mile = 1.608km, convert 180km to miles (give answer correct to the nearest mile).
(iii) Using a conversion rate of 1 gallon = 4.55 litres, convert 25 gallons to litres.
(iv) Calculate  54 + √225         
 
(c)    Eugene, Tara and Fintan set up a business. Eugene contributes €15,000, Tara contributes €20,000 and Fintan contributes €10,000. In their first year’s trading the business generates a profit of €122,000. If the profit is allocated in the same ratios as the capital contributions how much will each partner receive?  Give answers correct to 2 decimal places.
