Task 2.1 Prepare and conduct a toolbox talk
Form a workgroup, consult with your workgroup to identify and research a hazard, identify relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures that may apply to the hazard and its treatment, and then deliver a 10–15-minute presentation (a toolbox talk) to your work group.
2.1.1 Toolbox Talk Plan
Submit a written record of the toolbox talk to your assessor, including the Toolbox Talk Plan. Use the template provide below and follow the instructions.

H A description of where workgroup members can access information about the hazard and where they can access information about information about Australian Hardware’s WHS policies, procedures and programs
2.1.2 Toolbox Talk
Schedule a time with the trainer and assessor in week 2 of the term to deliver the toolbox talk to your group (10 – 15 minutes).
During the toolbox talk you must cover the following:
a. description of the hazard:
b. causes and effects of the hazard
c. control methods for the hazard (using the hierarchy of control)
d. organisational policies, procedures and programs relating to WHS
e. the importance of consultation in managing hazards in the workplace
f. results of consultation with other members of the organisation, WHS consultants, etc.
g. an explanation of the relevant provisions of the legislation (such as work health safety legislation), regulations or codes of practice that may apply to the hazard
h. how you plan to follow up to consult again on hazard and treatment
i. a description of where workgroup members can access information about the hazard.
Note: the trainer and assessor will evaluate your performance during the Toolbox Talk.
If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to make alternative arrangements with the trainer and assessor to deliver the toolbox talk.
