Gantt chart illustrates a project schedule, on vertical axis lists the tasks to be performed and time intervals on the horizontal axis where the width of the horizontal bars in the graph shows each activity's duration. The charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project and these two elements constitute the work breakdown structure of the project. The charts are sometimes equated with bar charts, and modern Gantt charts also show the dependency i.e., precedence network relationships between activities. These charts are created initially by using an early start time approach, in which each task is scheduled to start immediately when its prerequisites are complete, and maximizes the float time available for all tasks. The chart is commonly used in project management and is one of the most popular and useful ways of showing activities displayed against time. In this, on the left of the chart is a list of the activities and along the top is a suitable time scale, and each activity is represented by a bar where the length and position of the bar reflects the start date, duration and end date of the activity.
