Use the information below to construct a letter:

You have been on a short break in a rented caravan at Skegness.

Here is part of the advertisement for the holiday.

Your holiday was a disaster. The caravan was old and dirty and some of the equipment did not work. The entertainment was dreadful and was cancelled on two evenings. Two members of your family fell ill after a meal at the Oyster Restaurant. Write a letter to the owner of the caravan site, Mr Brown, to complain about your experience and to ask for compensation.

You will be assessed on:

• Presenting information and ideas clearly, logically and persuasively

• Using a suitable writing style for the purpose of the task

• Using a range of sentence structures, including complex sentences and paragraphs to organise your writing effectively

• Accurate spelling and grammar correct use of punctuation including commas, apostrophes and inverted commas (where applicable)

Read the information and write a report on your findings:

You write articles for your social media about current affairs. You have come across several articles and want to put your own spin on them.

Why do we write reports?

 To transmit ideas or information, facts or findings  To research a problem and draw conclusions about it

 To make recommendations about ways of doing things, making improvements or changes

 To record information for other people to refer to

Tips before you start.  Think about the audience that will read the report, and write clearly in a way they will understand

 Are they experts? If so, it is important to use the key vocabulary and technical terms

 Are they new to the topic? If so, don't blind them with science

 Write a plan detailing the information headings you need to include

 As you collect your information, note where it came from

 Do not write in the first person
