Scenario
You have been recruited as a corporate strategy manager by a well-known large global business consultancy organization in Hong Kong. A Hong Kong based trading limited company recently asked your company to help in exploring its business strategies. The corporation has business all over South East Asia countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. Its business focuses include garments, sport wear, toy products, computer accessories and retailing etc.
The company formulates a thorough business strategy annually. As the corporate strategy manager, you are asked to prepare an environmental analysis and strategic growth management plan based on the use of recognised internal and external analytical tools.
Part A: You are to complete an internal and external analysis that provides a basis for strategic planning:
• Analysis will include a PEST/LE and SWOT analysis of the organisation and an analysis of the organisation’s capabilities.
• Analysis of the competitive environment using Porter’s Five Forces model.
Part B: Devise a strategic plan based on the environmental analysis and findings:
• Analyse the various strategic options available to the organisation which will promote organisational growth.
• From your analysis in the above question, justify and recommend an appropriate future growth strategy for the organisation.
• Produce a strategic management plan with strategies, objectives and tactics.
