Exercise 1. – Ladder or Lattice Pathways:
Decide which of the following situations represent a ‘Ladder’ approach and which have a ‘lattice’ approach:
1. You start off as an intern and then get a promotion to a full-time position.
2. You stay in the same industry but in different companies because they offer better opportunities.
3. You work in a café first, then a clothes shop where you become team leader. After that, you become a supervisor in a factory.
4. You stay with one company, in the same department, all your career.
5. You quit your job, go back to university and hope to get a new job in the future.
Consider which section of your assignment you may be able to discuss your work history so far in terms of ladder or lattice.
