Observation: (For this assessment, you can choose any other organisation, which must be approved by your assessor).
You will need to demonstrate your interpersonal and risk-management skills in influencing, building and supporting individuals and teams. You are expected to demonstrate these skills over a period of time of the unit delivery and assessment.
You will be observed demonstrating the following behaviours when leading individuals and teams through a presentation/roleplay activity.
Instructions for Observation:
1. Adapting your interpersonal and leadership styles to meet particular circumstances and situations.
a. Explaining the organisational strategic direction
b. Ensuring that you are flexible, adaptable to change and accessible
c. Building trust, confidence and respect by demonstrating positive role-modelling, and by using effective communication and consultation techniques
d. Modelling ethical conduct and encouraging others to adopt business ethics
2. Influencing, supporting and providing resources for innovation and improvement.
a. Embracing, resourcing and effectively implementing improvements to organisational and workplace culture
b. Demonstrating an understanding of the global environment and new technology in work activities
c. Ensuring decision-making is consultative, and accounts for the needs and expectations of internal and external groups
d. Ensuring decision-making occurs in accordance with risk-management plans and within appropriate timeframes
3. Assigning responsibilities to teams and individuals consistent with their competencies and operational plans.
a. Ensuring teams are resourced to allow them to achieve their objectives and responsibilities
b. Empowering teams and individuals through effective delegation and support for their initiatives
c. Encouraging innovative approaches to work performance
4. Using feedback from others to reflect on your performance as a leader.
a. Ensuring each participant completes a leadership evaluation. The evaluation method can be face-to-face interviews, group feedback sessions, questionnaires, online surveys, etc.
b. Write a self-reflection report on your experiences as a leader.
Task One
Based on the communications strategy you have prepared for the Assessment Task 2, perform the following:
a. Communicate BizOps’s mission and goals to your team and other stakeholders (your classmates and the Assessor will play the role of your team and other stakeholders).
b. State expectations that the organisation has of its team and individuals. This may include reviewing job descriptions and KPIs and explaining work roles.
Ensure each participant completes an evaluation on the information. The evaluation method can be face-to-face interviews, group feedback sessions, questionnaires, online surveys, etc. (Appendix 2)
Task Two
Based on the written report you have prepared on investigating the incident that took place at BizOps, communicate the results of the investigation via a debrief to relevant groups and individuals. Add feedback from team member. (Appendix 3)
Task Three
Using feedback from others (You may use Appendix 5 ) to reflect on your performance as a leader, write a self-reflection report on your experiences as a leader.
