MARKETING 201 CREATIVE ASSIGNMENT I:
Your creative task is to develop a totally unique/creative design and layout for a GAP Store display window. You must accomplish this by using the preinventive form of a puzzle along with the Geneplore Model..
Specific Requirements:
1.After significantly tweaking your preinventive puzzle form, and thoroughly examining your metacomponents, provide a write-up (typed) of your creative window. Ensure that you clarify how your preinventive form played a significant role in your creative process. Figures are allowable as supplementary information.
2.Include in your discussion the metacomponential strategies that you employed throughout your creative process. Be very specific concerning how your higher-order thinking processes i.e. metacognition/metacomponents steered you as you accomplished this project. It is a good idea to refer to the handout on metacognition. Chapter 3 in the creativity text offers specific insights into the Geneplore Model which is at the heart of the preinventive form concept. Also, chapter 5 in the creativity book offers additional insights on metacognition.
3.It should be noted that half your points (25) will be earned for your metacognitive analysis. The other half (25) will derive from how well you tweak your preinventive form (the puzzle concept) to develop your final idea for your creative GAP window. This creative tweaking should obviously be well explained in your paper.
OTHER NOTES:
4. Since this is a creative assignment you may also add a promotional component to your output, to accompany your creative design for your GAP window.
5.If you really want to be impressive you can incorporate the Analogous Systems and MAP Models into your creative thought processes. These appear in chapter 3 of the creativity text, but we may not spend much class time on them.
6.It might be good strategy to save numbers 4 and 5 for your second creative assignment. Yet, creative people take risks so I’m not going to dictate the exact route you should take.

i)
The Generative Process : In this, one creates mental representations
called pre-inventive structures (seeds of ideas like images, smells,
etc.). That is if the creative process is considered as a sandbox, then
the sand is being poured out and all the toys are being thrown in in the
generative stage. So, when one starts playing with them like taking
them apart, putting things together i.e. all the while generating
memories, associations and comparisons.
ii)
The Exploratory Process : In this phase, the pre-invented structures
can either be focused or built upon depending on the desired product and
ideas are analyzed and evaluated and solutions are constructed. And,
this is where the sand castles get built. Although, in some cases, the
analysis and evaluation will require a return to the generative
process."
