Question:

 Unit 1 final project pre

In this course, you will have a final project (due in week 5) where you will select a psychological disorder and analyze it. Each week you will be asked to submit something that will help you in the completion of this final project. For this project, you must use credible outside research to support your ideas, so it may be beneficial to find your research each week as you go.

Your first step is to consider a disorder you would like to research and learn more about throughout our five-week course. Your text (Links to an external site.)

is a great place to start. You can browse Chapter 15 (specifically sections 15.1 and 15.4-15.10) or you can conduct a general Internet search.

Unit 1 Final Project Audio Transcript

This week we are discussing various psychological perspectives. We have covered that one perspective is not "right" with others being "wrong." Rather a given perspective is simply a psychologist's way of viewing how people think and behave.

Instructions:

Next, please select one of the following perspectives and identify the main underlying theme.

Explain how someone would study or view your disorder under this perspective?

Psychoanalytic

Behaviorist

Humanistic

Evolutionary

Biological

Unti 2 Final project Pre.

In this course, you will have a final project (due in week 5) where you will analyze a psychological disorder. Each week you will be asked to submit something that will help you in the completion of this final project.

Unit 2 Final Project Audio Transcript

For this project, you must use credible outside research to support your ideas, so it may be beneficial to find your research each week as you go. Are you wondering a little about what is considered credible research?

What sources can be considered as credible?

research articles written and peer-reviewed

websites registered by government and educational institutions (.gov, .edu)

academic databases

materials from Google Scholar

What sources should be avoided?

out-of-date materials

posts from social networks (i.e. facebook)

blogs

research articles without citations

Wikipedia can never be considered as a reliable source of information since it can be edited by anyone (Therefore it is non-credible website example). However, it can be used when you are first trying to understand the topic. Moreover, there are lots of further links and references that can be useful when doing a research or writing academic papers.

This week we are discussing the memory process and the role perceptions play in encoding memories, storing memories and retrieval of memories.

Instructions:

Consider the disorder you picked last week and in two to three sentences explain how someone's perceptions and/or memory may be impacted or altered by the disorder.

Unit 5 final project.

For your final project you will need to select a psychological disorder and analyze it using information gained throughout this class. In order to do this you will use the final project prep assignments from weeks 1-4 (already submitted) and apply them to the disorder you've selected. Therefore, you've already done most of the work. It is time to put it all together so that you can present your understanding of your chosen disorder to the class.

For this project, you must use credible outside research to support your ideas.

You will create an 8-12 slide power point presentation, which will include the following:

A title slide

2 slides describing your disorder (category, symptoms, prevalence)

1 slide identifying a psychological perspective and explaining how a psychologist, in said perspective (covered in unit 1), would view the disorder.

1-2 slides explaining how the formation of memories, storage of memories or recall of memories may be impacted by this disorder. Also explain how top-down and/or bottom-up processing may impact one's ability to perceive their world with this disorder. How is their perception impacted if at all (covered in unit 2)?

1-2 slides explaining how cognitive abilities would be impacted by this disorder and/or how characteristics/symptoms may have been learned (selected in unit 3).

1-2 slides explaining how the presence of others would/could impact someone with this disorder and/or how the disorder may impact one's personality (selected in unit 4).

1 slide explaining potential treatments (appropriate for the psychological perspective you selected)

1 reference slide

Hint
ManagementThe study involves a psychological perspective that involves certain assumptions about the functioning of human behavior. The behaviorist perspective assumes that human behavior is influenced by the external environment. Some behaviorists believe that a person learns through reward and punishments. The human mind is considered a clean state which is then influenced by positive or negativ...
