There are privacy issues regarding your name on assignment documents.

Do include a title and the word count.

ABSTRACT

Write this last. It is a short summary of your study. Read a few to get a feel for them. Your abstract DOES NOT count toward your word count.

INTRODUCTION

Your introduction is basically a review of the literature. You should form an argument which arrives at your hypotheses. Consider using subheadings – possibly relating to each of your hypotheses. This will

help you structure your arguments.

METHOD

This section should include enough information so that someone else could replicate your study if they wanted to. Your method section includes the following subsections:

Participants

How many people did you measure? Who were they? How old? This will depend on what data you are given.

Measures

What questions did you ask?

Procedure

How did you collect the data?

RESULTS

The results section includes the data bit of your report. Tables and graphs belong in here. You should use full prose and explain the results, but DO NOT discuss the results at this stage.

DISCUSSION

This is where you state whether you supported your hypotheses or not. How do your results match the literature? Are there differences? If so why? Were there any limitations to your study? This is the ‘discussion’ bit of your report.

You adapted your shortened scale from this article: https://westerncriminology.org/documents/WCR/v02n2/williams/williams.html

*don’t read the actual article*

We used:

• Q30. On a scale of 1 to 10, how concerned are you about crime in general? 1 = NOT WORRIED AT ALL to 10 VERY WORRIED about crime in general

• Plus 5 of the specific crime questions. “We would like to know how you feel about your chances of being a victim of any of these offenses DURING THIS COMING YEAR. On a scale of 1 to 10, how worried are you about being a victim?”

1 = NOT WORRIED AT ALL 10 = VERY WORRIED

Assault

Burglary

Motor Vehicle Theft

Murder

Vandalism

Hint
ManagementThe idea of fear of crime has produced significant interest within criminology. We change several commonly-used measures of fear to worry and equate their dimensions and reliability. A victimization-based worry scale is established as part of this evaluation and creates the most crime-focused measurement, in addition to the highest reliability measures. ...
