Your statistical analysis of internet speed data is to enable

The data set provided contains 10 randomly chosen samples of size 120.

To obtain your data

(1) Click on the Project Data file. This will download an Excel file.

(2) Select the 8 columns (Day to Difference Download Speed) of data for the sample specified by the last digit of your student ID number.

(3) Copy this into a new Excel file.

There are 10 sample data sets each of 8 columns (Day to Difference Download Speed)

Your sample number matches the last digit of your SCU student ID number. For example, if your student ID number ends in 2 your sample is Sample 2 and you will be analysing the internet speed data in columns S to Z and cells S2:Z122.

Project Situation

Your statistical analysis of internet speed data is to enable you to answer questions from a friend who has recently been connected to the NBN (National Broadband Network) on a NBN 50 plan. This plan gives a maximum download speed of 50 Mbps (megabits per second) and a maximum upload speed of 20 Mbps. Your friend is concerned that their download speed is not close to the given maximum.

Over the first month on the plan your friend collected the given sample of download and upload speeds. Then as you are enrolled in a statistics unit has asked you to analyse it.

To obtain the sample, your friend on 120 randomly selected occasions tested their upload and download speed using Speed Test 1. Then to check the accuracy of the speed test chosen tested their upload and download speed using a second speed test, Speed Test 2.

In each part of the project you are required to analyse the sample data in response to given questions and provide a written answer. Assume that each written answer is a part of a letter or email to your friend.

Hint
ManagementWhilst undertaking internet speed tests, one is offered an approximated uploads and downloads speed. Downloads speed is a rate at which data travels to one’s device form the internet. An upload speed is a rate at which data travels to the internet from one’s device....
