Your task in this assignment is to determine the roles of the parameters

1. Exploring transformations

Consider the following function:

f (x) = a(x - d)3 + c

Your task in this assignment is to determine the roles of the parameters a, d and c. To do this, open up your graphing software (refer to the course outline and required resources if you need to download the program Graph still) and graph this function using f(a)- a= 1, d = 0 and c= 0).

For this to be a proper investigation, you should only test one variable at a time. The following questions will guide you through the steps that you should complete in order to determine how these parameters transform a polynomial function.

Submit all of your graphs and your conclusions to the appropriate dropbox.

Question 1

a) Determine a range of approximately 5 values for 'a' that you will test. You

could choose to use more values than this, but 5 should give you a good idea of what effects 'a' has on the graph. Graph each of these on the same set of axes.

Question 2

a) Write a concluding statement for the role of the parameter 'a'.

Question 3

a) Setting 'a' back to one, repeat steps (1) and (2) for parameters 'c' and d'.

Hint
ManagementRange is difference between a data set’s highest and lowest values. The range indicates how values in a series are spread out. A high range shows or illustrates that values are extensively spread out. A low range outrightly indicates the opposite....
