Stop-Motion Illustration

In this course we will be looking at the application of 2D (flat artwork) and 3D (dimensional illustration - in this  case, models and stop-motion animation) to create a short advertisement, together with an associated print  campaign to promote a product for sale.

From beginning to end, we will explore the process: from writing the script, to designing a character, to  creating a storyboard, to making the character and animating it, and finally adding sound.

The Brief:

You’re a talented young creative who runs a small, independent production company. A client comes to you  with a problem. They have a small supermarket, but they are overstocked on many of their items. They  would like you to come up with a commercial to promote these items.

You will beme generic, ‘no-name’ product. Better yet, create an imaginary product of your own!

Once you have chosen or created a product, you will design a very simple character to help sell that product.  Below are links to some examples. These are all commercials that I’ve done over the years…

The product may be anything  from soap, to cereal, to dog food, to toilet paper. Try not to choose a product that already has an existing  character associated with it: for example Rice Bubbles has the Snap, Crackle and Pop characters. * Please note: The above examples are primarily meant as reference only, so don’t worry! It is not expected  that you create something of this level, especially given your client’s limited time and budget.

Stop-Motion Illustration

Hint
ManagementStop motion animation: It is an animated film-making technique. In this, the objects are manipulated physically in the small increments between the individually photographed frames. It also helps them to appear, to exhibit the independent motion or the change when the frame's series is played back. It is basically the animation which, with the physical objects that are moved between the ...
