Compare the performance of a simple gas power plant (Brayton Cycle)

Question 1:

Compare the performance of a simple gas power plant (Brayton Cycle) where the inlet temperature to the compressor is 300 K and the inlet to the turbine is at 1900 K. Vary the pressure ratio of the compressor from 10 to 50 in steps of 10 – i.e. 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.

Plot how the η, BWR, net work done in kJ/kg, heat added in kJ/kg, heat exhausted out in kJ/kg and the temperature at the exhaust of the turbine in ºC – would change for the different pressure ratios.

Perform calculations with actual properties and also with the cold cycle calculation for each case.

Discuss the results. Express in detail what you can conclude from your calculations.

Hint
EngineeringProcess 1-2:At T1 = 300 k  h1 = 20019 KJ/Kg        Pr1 = 13860Pr2 = (P2/P1) * Pr1Now for P2/P1 = 10 Pr2 = 10*1.386Pr2 = 13.86  T2 = 574.09 K        H2 = 579.865 KJ Kg...
