In this assignment, we will use our calculators to solve an equation using correlation and linear regression. You will be required to graph your data, add the regression line and then finally solve the equation for a series of numbers.
1.) What is the Mean of X?
2.) What is the Mean of Y?
3.) What is the Pop SD of X?
4.) What is the Pop SD of Y?
5.) What is the value for the ΣXY?
6.) What is the value of R or the correlation coefficient?
7.) What is your regression formula? Y=A+BX
a. A=
b. B =
8.) Is this correlation positive or negative?
9.) Using Cohen's index (low, medium or large) how would you classify this relationship?
10.) Plot your data on your calculator using a scattergram. Draw the scattergram (DO NOT DRAW THE REGRESSION LINE) and describe the level of dispersion around what you perceive to be the regression line. Is it low, medium or large? Do you see any outliers that may affect the equation?
11.) Run your regression equation again and save the formula to the first function. Plot your data again and draw it in the space provided below. Make sure you draw the regression line
12.) For the regression equation above, use your calculator to solve the regression equation for the X (or independent variable) values of the following data (Use the CALC-> VALUE function on your TI83/84 and enter the values of your additional independent variables.)
a. 04
b. 06
c. 10
d. 11
e. 15
f. 17
