5: Run Multiple Regression Analysis to Examine Predictors of Happiness
Run a two-model multiple regression analysis to examine self-esteem, physical health, and psychological health as predictors of happiness.
Note: Refer back to the “Simple Regression and Multiple Regression in SPSS” instructional video if you need additional support during the below steps of the assignment.
1. Examine the correlations between self-esteem score, physical health score, psychological health score, and happiness score.
a. Go to Analyze - Correlate - Bivariate…
b. Add SelfEsteemScore, PhysicalHealthScore, PsychHealthScore, and HappyScore to the Variables: box. Under Correlation Coefficients, make sure that Pearson is checked, and under Test of Significance, make sure Two-tailed is selected. Under Options… you can choose Means and standard deviations and Cross-product deviations and covariances if you like.
c. Click OK to generate correlation matrix in your output.
d. Use the correlation output to answer questions shown below on your Assignment 6 written response worksheet.
