Case Details
The total enrolment number for STA101and ECO101are 250 students and 150 students, respectively.
The professor Anderson found last semester’s passing rate for ECO101 was quite low and he wanted to know whether a low attendance rate was one of the main reasons for the poor result. The below table is a summary of the past eight semester’s tutorial attendance rate vs. average marks. This semester’s attendance is just at 50%,work out the average marks for ECO101 students based on the least squares line method.
The professor was also interested to know whether the students study more than 10 hours per week for subject STA101.You designed a survey and sent to the entire Stream A students regarding the study hours per week, assuming that the study time is normally distributed with a standard deviation of 14. The survey data is provided in a separate excel sheet.
The students’ performance of STA101is summarized below. Among the 40 failure students, 30 students are eligible for the supplementary exam. The supplementary exam was just taken place two weeks ago with50% passing rate, therefore these students could eventually get a Pass grade. You job is to recalculate the overall performance of the students after taking into account of the supplementary exam results, with new table and chart analysis.
