Language and Culture. 1/ Look at various situations that involve language crossing or switch coding and give the reasons for them. 2/ Choose at least one major book given by the author at the end of each chapter and write a good book review of it showing its relevance to various language and culture relationship! In Search of My Tongue and show how the poem explores the relationship between the dominant and dominated language! 2/ How does John Agard’s Half-Caste make fun of the the idea something mixed? Look at the tone of the poem and show where it is sarcastic, humorous or bitter criticism!

Your long assignment in poetry is to choose a set of poems representing main stream culture and another set representing marginalized culture and show how they are so different and apart in their themes and approach!
