Lesson 4 jamovi Assignment
Variability
Intro Statistics for Social Sciences (Professor April Garcia Peck)
Prepare: Watch the jamovi video lessons for Lesson 4.
Dataset needed: jamovi Dataset - Lesson 04.omv
Assignment Prompt:
The Lesson 4 jamovi dataset is the SAME dataset you analyzed for the Lesson 3 jamovi Assignment.
Important note about the categorical variables Alcohol Involved and Drugs Involved: If the patient was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the hospital visit, the doctor indicated “YES” on the data collection form. “YES” was also recorded if the patient self-reported using drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. “NO” indicates that the patient was not under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the visit.
Use jamovi to answer the following questions. Report all statistics to 1 decimal place.
For the variable “Age”, split the data by the variable “Alcohol Involved”.
1. What is the mean age of the patients who HAD NOT consumed alcohol? ______
2. What is the standard deviation for the patients who HAD NOT consumed alcohol? ______
Remove the “Alcohol Involved” split from your analysis. For the variable “Age”, split the data by the variable “Drugs Involved”.
3. What is the mean age of patients who HAD used drugs? ______
4. What is the standard deviation for the patients who HAD used drugs? ______
Keep the “Drugs Involved” split in your analysis. ADD the variable “Sex” to split the dataset further.
5. What is the mean age of the MALE patients who HAD used drugs? ______
